Walnut and Black Treacle Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 200g vegan margarine
  • 250g muscavado sugar
  • 1 tablespoon black treacle (molasses)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 200g chopped walnuts

Method

  • Cream together margarine and sugar.
  • Add the treacle and vanilla extract.
  • Add the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt, beating well.
  • Fold in the walnuts.
  • Roll out the mixture and cut out shapes.
  • Put on a baking tray into an oven at 180 degrees/Gas mark 4 for about 8-10 minutes.
  • Leave to cool on the baking tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
